Formation and Functions of the
Society
The society registered under Andhra Pradesh Co-operative
Societies Act VII of 1964 and established in the year 1974,
works for the Social and Economic development of Scheduled
Castes families by creating assets on community basis as
well as for individual families and plays a vital role on
implementing the various schemes for the uplift of the Scheduled
Caste families in the District.
The Society is affiliated to Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes
Co-operative Finance Corporation Ltd., Hyderabad and working
under guidance and as per the targets fixed by the Managing
Director, APSCCFC Ltd., Hyderabad.
Targets and Achievements
There are both land based and non-land based programmes.
Some of the schemes being implemented are Land Purchase Scheme,
Development of Land, Minor Irrigation facilities through
Lift Irrigation Schemes, Checkdams, Community Irrigation
Wells, Supply of Electrical Motors and Oil Engines. A number
of schemes in Horticulture & Animal Husbandry Schemes,
Self Employment Schemes (ISB, NSFDC) for unemployed SCs in
addition to Rehabilitation Programmes for vulnerable groups
like Scavengers, Flayers & Tanners, Women Self Help Groups.
Training Programmes is being give to the unemployed SC youth.
The total population of the district is 2215809 of which
360154 are belonging to Scheduled Castes constituting 16.20%
of the total population (1991 census).
Since inception 128114 SC beneficiaries have been benefited
under different schemes with an outlay of Rs.82.01 Crores
in the District up to 17th February, 2004
