PREAMBLE
The
Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited was established
in 1982 for construction of houses for weaker sections.
A.P.State Housing Corporation, Khammam has constructed 1,99,770
houses for the below poverty house holds so far. Out of these
houses 53,002-scheduled caste house holds, 89,196 scheduled
tribe households and 57,569 are other castes BPL families were
benefitted. Houses were also built to the primitive tribal
groups like Konda reddys, Koyas and Godavari flood victims
and also in remote forest area.
In the district the corporation has District Manager office
in Khammam town and four division offices i.e., Khammam, Kothagudem,
Palwancha and Bhadrachalam. The addresses of the offices are
given below.
Nirmithi Kendras were also established by A.P.State Housing
Corporation Limited for producing pre cast building components
such as RCC door frames, window frames, Lintel cum sunshades,
and cement blocks, Fly ash bricks etc., and supplying to the
public at lowest prices, since 1990.

| INDIRA AWAS YOJANA |
The
objective of IAY is primarily to help construction of dwelling
units by members of Scheduled
Castes and also Non-Scheduled Castes rural poor living below
the poverty line. From the year 1999-2000, it has been decided
to earmark 80% to total allocated funds for construction of
new houses and 20% funds for up gradation of Kachha unserviceable
houses. As per guidelines, tallest 60% of assistance should
go
in favour of Scheduled Castes beneficiaries under this schemes.
The
target group for houses under I.A.Y. is people below poverty
line living in rural areas belonging to S.C./S.T. freed bonded
laborers and non SC/ST categories
. a maximum of 40% of the total I.A.Y. allocation during a financial year can
be utilized for construction of dwelling units for non SCs/STs BPL at categories.

| “VALMIKI AMEBEDKAR MALIN BASTI
AWAS YOJANA”. |
The Government of
India Ministry of Urban Development have recently launched “VALMIKI
AMEBEDKAR MALIN BASTI AWAS YOJANA” (VAMBAY), which
will be operated through HUDCO. The objective of the new
scheme is to provide
shelter and to upgrade existing shelter for Below Poverty Line
(BPL) families in urban areas.
As VAMBAY targets the BPL families
in urban areas, it is a highly appropriate scheme for providing/improving/upgrading
the quality of living environment of
urban slum dwellers (BPL) who do not possess adequate shelter. It will certainly
be useful in tackling problems of expanding slums, unlawful occupation and
encroachments as also those of shortage of urban housing stock
and inadequacy of urban infrastructure.

OBJECTIVE
OF THE PROJECT :
This project intends to
provide housing along with physical infrastructure to the
urban poor. The objective of the
new scheme is to provide shelter and to
upgrade existing shelter and to upgrade existing shelter for Below Poverty Line
(BPL) families in urban areas. |
