implement air (prevention and control of pollution) Act,
1981.

implement water (prevention and control of pollution)

implementation environmental (Protection) Act 1986.

PHYSICAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
|
-
Every
month five red category industries were monitored during
last six years.
-
Public
grievances were given top priority and cleared within
the citizen charter. The number of
grievances were reduced
substantially during last five years and it was reduced
from 21 in the year 2000-01 to 12 in 2001-02.
-
Industrial
plantation was carried out and fulfilled the targets
for the current year with an acreage of 156.30.
-
Almost
80% of the industries that are other than 64 categories
were covered under air, water and EP acts.
-
Targets
achieved in implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Rules
and Hazardous waste management rules that were
enacted during 2000.
-
CFO/CFE
license applications were processed within citizen charter
time frame.
-
Major
industries have either upgraded or installed pollution
control equipment in the district.
-
Continuous
ambient air monitoring is being carried out at Kothagudem
and
Paloncha regions to assess the air quality.
-
Monthly
monitoring of river Godavari and its tributaries is
carried out in the district.

| SUCCESS ACHIEVEMENT |
-
Three
industries in the district have obtained ISO 14001
certification for best
environmental practices. Some more are in the process
of obtaining the same.
-
Heavy
Water Plant has got Golden Peacok Award from Central
Government and from the Board for best environmental
practices.
-
Continuous
efforts are being made for implementation of waste minimization
and cleaner production activities.
