Inspector of Factories

INTRODUCTION

The office of the Inspector of Factories, Khammam was established in the year 1966.

Main object of the department is to regulate working conditions of the workers in the factories i.e., safety, health and welfare of the workers as per the Factories Act 1948 and A.P. Factories Rules, 1950 and the regulations govering wages and maternity benefits.
 
  ACTIVITIES
 
  • Registration of the factories: under Factories Act, 1948 and issue of the Factory Licence in Form No.4. The new factories or un-registered factories shall be registered under Factories Act either directly or licence application received from the DIC Khammam through single window system.
  • Realisation of Licence fee: Annual Licence fee shall be paid by the working factories in the month of December for every coming up calender years, as per the licence fee schedule issued in G.O.Ms.No.59, Labour Employment, Training and Factories (Lab-II) Department, dt. 8.9.2001.
  • Inspection of Major Accident Hazardous Factories: As per the utilization of dangerous chemicals and dangerous substances the factories are categoriesed under MAH-A & B categories.
  • Enquiry of Fatal and non-fatal accidents occurred within factory premises:
    Every factory manager shall report the fatal and non-fatal accidents to this department and non-fatal accidents should be reported within 24 hours after the expiry of 48 hours of the occurrence of the accident and enquiry will be conducted after receiving the accident. Report and suggestions are issued to the management to prevent the same in future. The details of the accident are informed to the Dy. Commissioner of Labour, Warangal for workmen compensation.
  • Attending to the court work as well as conducting arguments in the courts.
  • Enquiry of complaints received in respect of Factories: As per the complaints received either from the workers, unions or public or others regarding the Factories Act, 1948, the enquiry will be conducted and action will be initiated as per the provisions of the said act.
  • Safety Training Programme: Training programmes are conducted to the workers in the factory regarding safety, welfare and working conditions and working hours.
  • Interactive meeting: Interactive meetings are conducted to the managements.

47 Factories are registered under Factories Act, 1948 from 1.1.2003 to till to date in Khammam district.
