Dairy Development in Khammam Milk shed is organized by three units in Khammam district.

Khammam Dairy

Capacity 12,000/- Lts/Day.
Milk procurement is conducted through six procurement routes from (94) villages.

1 Nelakondapalli route 30 villages
2 Madhira route 20 villages
3 Vallabhi route 12 villages
4 Tirumalaipalem route 15 villages
5 Proddutooru route 10 villages
6 Bayyaram route 7 villages
  Total 94 villages


Milk Chilling Centre, Sathupalli

Capacity 10,000/- Lts/Day.
Milk procurement is conducted through three milk routes from (60) villages

1 Bharanipadu route 25 villages
2 Annapureddipalli route 20 villages
3 Moddulagudem route 15 villages
  Total 60 villages


Bulk Cooling Centre, Madhira

Capacity 1,000/- Lts/Day.
Started in 2001 with two milk routes procuring from (15) villages

1 Marlapadu route 8 villages
2 Chilkuru route 7 villages
  Total 15 villages

Milk sales is conducted in various places in the district.

Bhadrachalam, Kothagudem, Yellandu, Khammam and milk supplies are made to the Govt. Hostels, Hospitals and Singareni Collieries daily.

SCHEMES:

NCDC PROGRAMME:

Under National Cooperative Development Corporation, Dairy Cooperative Societies have been organized and registered during 1990 to 1995. about 150 cooperative societies have been registered in the district. Breeding bulls have been supplied to the societies on 50% cost.

WOMEN DAIRY PROJECT:

With the help of Human Resources Development Department, Government of India, 20 all women dairy cooperative societies have been organized and registered in the district during 1999-2001.

INTEGRATED DAIRY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT:

Under Hill Area Development Programme, 6 new Dairy Cooperative Societies have been organized and the old cooperative societies have been strengthened.
Every year, the milk animals of the dairy farmers are supplied HS-BQ vaccines, foot and mouth disease vaccines, fodder seeds on 50% subsidy.
Cattle feed is supplied to the farmers.
