Khammam District is endowed with rich mineral resources of both the Major and Minor minerals. The details of the availability of the important minerals are as follows:

COAL

The Non-Cocking Coal deposits available all along the Pranahitha Godavari Valley extending in Kothagudem, Sathupalli, Manuguru & Yellandu areas of Khammam district. At present M/s Singareni Colleries Company Ltd (Central Govt) are extracting Coal from these areas. The methods of mining operations in these areas are both underground and open cast. The Govt. of India has announced new policy in giving the Mining Leases for Non-Cocking Coal to the private parties also.

DOLOMITE

The Dolomite deposits in this area traversing through the Dharwar Strata from Bonkal, Chintakani, Khammam Urban to Singareni mandal with a linear belt in undulating form. The S.M.S. & Flux grade type of Dolomite in this area is extracting in open cast method and supplying to Visakha Steel Plant.

GARNET

Huge deposits of Semi Precious Garnet deposits occur in Ramapuram, Rudrampur, Sujatha Nagar, Enkur mandals of Khammam district. These deposits are mostly confined to Forest areas.

CORRUNDUM


The Semi Precious and abrasive variety of Corrundum deposits occur in Konigerla, Thallada & Enkur mandals of Khammamd district. These deposits are also mostly confined to Forest and Pattalands.

BARYTES


Off color Barytes occur as lenses, stringers and veins confined to Pakhal sediments in Khammam district. These deposits occur in Khanapur, Velugumatla and Ballepalli of Khammam Urban mandal and Pocharam of Garla mandal in Khammam district.

IRON ORE

The Hematite variety of Iron Ore deposits occur in forest areas of Bayyaram, Kothagudem and in Pattalands of Appalanarasimhapurm, Vallabhi & Kongara villages of Nelakondapally & Mudigonda mandals of Khammam district. Here the Iron Ore is extracting Mannual by open cast hand picking method.
