Property Tax

Property tax is Computerised. Taxd is being levied on the basis of the plinth area, use of the building, location, type of construction and age of the building. The entire town has been divided into four zones and tax is caliculated according to rates fixed by the Municipal Council.

During the year 2001-2002 General Revision of Property Tax was taken up and given effect from 01.04.2002 (2002-2003). Due to this, the demand of property tax was increased from Rs. 186.00 lakhs Rs. 400.00 lakhs per annum.

The Income & Expenditure of Khammam Municipality for the last (3) years is as detailed below:

Work Highlights

Sanitation

3 dual side opening dumper placer vehicles.
8 own tractors.
36 exenora cycle rickshaws
3 tractors are in service
120 mts., of garbage from dustbins, drains etc., is lifted.

ISLS

2007 units were constructed with a cost of Rs.46.28 lakhs
Under phase-III during 2003-04, 2575 units were proposed and 1800
were grounded against sanction of Rs.25.00 lakhs

Janmabhoomi

18 civil works like laying metal, CC, gravel, construction of strom water drains, culverts etc., were executed at a cost of Rs.222.00 lakhs with 30% public constribution during the 19th round Janmabhoomi.

National Slum Area Development Programme:

Rs.140.73 lakhs was released. New pipelines were laid, 200 street lights provided, 20 drains, 7 roads and 25 other works were completed at a cost of Rs.87.755 lakhs.

1000 house connections were sanctioned, of this 560 to slum dwellers who deposited Rs.3,000/- per tap.

With the collection of donation, service reservoir at Sreenivasnagar was constructed.

SWARNA JAYANTHI SHAHARI ROJGAR YOJANA (SJSRY)

Under this, Rs. 103.05 lakhs have been released to the Municipality from 1998-99 under the following components and expenditure incurred are noted hereunder.
