WORK
DONE BY THE FIELD STAFF INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES

The field staff (CCs) participated in the
Janmabhoomi programme and explained the Velugu concepts
in all the J.B. Gram Sabhas held in the District.
-
The C.Cs have conducted the PIP exercise
in all the mandals in Khammam District and the data
has been computerized duly tallying with the BPL records.
-
18517 SHGs were sensitized and 8022 new
groups have been formed in this Project. All the groups
imparted training on Velugu concept.
-
All the Grama Deepikas (Animators) have
also been given training on Velugu Concept.
-
Total 2015 Village Organisations (VOs)
have been formed covering 16071 SHGs. Action is being
taken to organize VOs for the remaining SHGs.
-
41 Mandal Samakhyas (MS) have been constituted
in the district, which are functioning regularly.
-
The differently abled people have been
identified and organised into 51 groups (exclusively
for differently abled people).
-
The "Pidikedu Biyyam" concept (Daily saving
of rice by women) is being practiced by 442 groups
covering 4636 families. The saved rice is distributed
to the destitutes in villages.
-
In the month of January about 70 child
labour are brought back to school. Earlier in the
month of November the CCs brought 670 out of school
children to the school as a part of their village
immersion programme.

Gradual reduction of wasteful family expenditure
(by reducing consumption of Arrack) was tried in 2000
families in the month of January, which resulted in
the saving of Rs.1,80,000/- in 20 days. Now efforts
are made to implement this concept through SHGs. and
V.Os in a gradual manner.

About 350 cultural activists are identified
in the district. Their services would be utilized
for social mobilization. So far 84 role - plays were
performed by the C.Cs and cultural activists
-
41 M.V.T.C centres started functioning
in the District to facilitate training to SHGs, activists
V.Os etc., on Velugu concepts.
-
The PIP-BPL survey conducted by the Velugu
Project helped the Poorest of the Poor & Poor
families to avail the benefit of getting the ration
cards (96,000) and social security pensions (17,000).
-
A total no of 30,200 self help us to formed
in the project.

Conduct of LEAPs
The Livelihood Enhancement Action Plan is conducted under 16 steps
and Micro Credit Plan (MCP).
Sub Projects (for income generation activities)
So far 631 Sub projects with an estimated cost of Rs.1490.00 lakhs
have been prepared and sanctioned in 22 DPMU mandals. The DPMU
has released Rs.7.5 crores to the V.Os to implement the sanctioned
Sub Projects. About 50% of the Sub Projects are intended to give
credit in smaller amounts ranging from Rs.2000/- to Rs.5000/-
that would fetch a monthly income of Rs.1000/- to Rs.2000/- per
each benefited family. The locally available livelihood opportunities
which were untapped hitherto are now tapped through LEAP exercise.
In DPMU (22) mandals, so far 15,000 poor families got benefited
with the sanction of CIF for income generation activities through
the active participation of the Village Organisations. Some of
the major livelihood activities taken up by the V.Os are

Dairying, sheep rearing, fisheries.

Agricultural crops, horticulture, vegetable cultivation.

Artisan activities like Carpentry, black smithy,
pottery, weaving, stone cutting, tailoring, washer men activities,
toddy tapping, barber activities etc.
