PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Objective
of Indira Kranthi Padham is to enable the rural poor, particularly
the poorest of the poor in AP to improve their livelihoods and
quality of life by facilitating formation of self-sustainable
institutions of the poor.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
OF THE PROJECT
Strengthening the existing Self Help Groups and building
the poor people institutions like Village Organization and Mandal
Samakya.
PIP/BPL survey has been conducted and the
data has been computerized. After resurvey, the details of House
Holds are as follows.

- Analysis of the existing livelihoods and preparation of livelihoods
enhancement action plan (LEAPs).
- Providing employment opportunities
to the rural poor.
- Reduction of Wasteful family expenditure in rural poor.
- Providing Insurance coverage to rural poor in the groups approach.
- Addressing various social problems / issues taken by the rural
poor.
Expected outputs of the
Project
1) Coverage of all POP poor house
holds into SHGs.
2) Strengthening all POP & Poor
SHGs.
3) Organizing POP, Poor SHG into
sustainable Village Organizations.
4) Strengthening the Mandal Samakhyas
to become Self supporting organization of the poor.
5) Supporting 1,50,000 poor families
by way of providing support towards livelihoods activities.
HIGHLIGHTS IN PROJECT
IMPLEMENTATION
- Distinctive focus on the POP & Poor. So far
39,191 number of POP & Poor families have been supported
by the village organizations. Out of them 19,541 belongs to
SC/ST community.
- 1056 Acres of fallow & uncultivable land has
been brought under cultivation by providing CIF to an amount
of Rs. 44.40 lakhs.
- In collaboration with ITC 1270 Acres of tribal land
which is unfit for cultivation is being brought up for cultivation
with Eucalyptus plantation. This initiative with by back clause,
will surely bring the ST families permanently above the poverty
line.
- 5246 No.of SC/ST families were covered under Food
Security by Rice credit line programme with a total outlay of
21.07 lakhs.
- 1309 number of ST families were given marketing
support to their non timber forest produce by Vos by setting
up of 39 non timber forest produce procurement centers. This
initiative has helped the ST families in getting better procurement
rice and the Vos also gained profits by selling the products
in the open market. Rs. 29.35 has been invest for this purpose.
