NATIONAL MALARIA ERADICATION PROGRAMME AND NATIONAL ANTI MALARIA PROGRAMME:
 
The National Malaria Eradication Programme started during the year 1958. Under this programme D.D.T. was sprayed in areas with high incidence of malaria. The activities of spraying and anti larval measures are taken up under this programme. All the activities to eliminate of deaths from Malaria fever and reduction in Malaria morbidity.

An amount of Rs.30,93,496/- was spent with the funds released by the NAMP state funds under the programme in the district from 1995 to 2002-03. An amount of Rs.82.95 lakhs has been spent from the year 1998 to 2002-03 with World Bank Central funds under the programme for the activities under National Anti Malaria Programme in the district.

NATIONAL LEPROSY ERADICATION PROGRAMME

There are (5) Leprosy Control units at Khammam, Yellandu, Kothagudem, Aswapuram and Bhadrachalam. An amount of Rs.66.54 lakhs has been spent for MDT and other treatment from the year 1995-96 to 2002-03. The prevention and troll AIDS was effected from 1990. The activities are (i) Surveillance of high risk groups, (ii) Establishment of a safe blood supply system in reduce transmission of HIV infection and (iii) Counseling high risk groups. The aids control prgoramme is started in the district with the funds of AIDS society funds from 1997-98. An amount of Rs.33.09 lakhs has been was for AIDS control programme activities.

NATIONAL MATERNITY BENEFIT SCHEME

This scheme an amount of Rs.70.38 lakhs was been paid to 14076 beneficiaries. An amount of Rs.300/- is paid at the time of pregnancy and remaining amount is paid after full immunization of the child.

SUKHIBHAVA

This programme is implemented from the year 2000-01. Rs.35.35 lakhs is paid to the patients who have under gone deliveries at Govt. Institutions. An amount of Rs.300/- is paid to the pregnant woman with no living child or with one living child and are hailed from the poverty line and who belong to rural areas under this scheme.

A.P.E.R. PROJECT

This project is started from the year 1999-2000. Under this Programme the activities of hiring of private vehicles, POL charges, supply of drugs and medicines and other materials and supplies are provided to the Primary Health Centres. Amount of of Rs.33.26 lakhs has been spent so far. Under this project permanent buildings are constructed for 27 PHCs with all facilities in Tribal Sub Plan area with a cost of Rs.5.72 crores in the district. Under this programme eight TPHCs have been constructed with permanent buildings with a cost of Rs.1.87 crores.

REPRODUCTIVE CHILD HEALTH PROGRAMME

This Programme is implemented from the year 2000 for giving skill training to the para medical staff & other health activities.

ROUND THE CLOCK PHCs:

(20) PHCS are functioning as round the clock PHCs in the district from the year 2000-01.
